Scheduling Tasks in Salesforce through an Easy Cron Expression Generator
Record Updates and Changes are generally event-driven, but for time-spaced activities and updates, like daily and weekly updates, we schedule batch classes.
Batch classes expect Cron Expressions to be conveyed activity schedules. Normally, you’d spend time referencing documentation to write code that generates the right Cron.
We’ve written an Apex based, clicks-not-code UI solution, that accepts schedule time for an activity and generates precise Cron expressions every time. The Cron is then fed to a class which triggers activities like emails, end-of-day logs, and record updates
As always, we’ve provided the source code herewith for reference, besides a link to a live demo.
In the illustration above, we replaced a quintessential piece of code with a handy clicks-not-code alternative. Ditching repetitive code modules such as this lets you standardize and improve on recurring elements of code easily and gives back developer time.
We hope you go on to use this time-saving code snippet, and others like it as part of development processes for engagements, reminders, and updates. For further assistance with time-sensitive enablements for your platforms, reach out to us at sales@hicglobalsolutions.com.
