Retrieve all Metadata from your Salesforce Org using package.xml

We know at times we all want to retrieve all metadata from our Salesforce org. You may need it as a backup before a Salesforce deployment or want to create a master branch for your Source Control system. Today, in this thoughtful blog by our skilled Salesforce developers, we will tell you how to retrieve metadata from your Salesforce Org using package.xml through workbench or VS code.

So, without further ado, let’s jump right into the blog!

Steps

1- Create salesforce Org – Production/Sandbox
2- Login workbench.

3- Create Sample Data.xml file to retrieve all Metadata form salesforce

4- Go to migration 🡪 Retrieve

5- Choose File unpackaged Manifest

6- Click on Next

7- Click on Retrieve

8- Download Zip file check the Metadata

How to retrieve All Metadata from your Salesforce Org using package.xml through VS Code

1- Install VS code with SFDX CLI

2- Go to Manifest 🡪 Package.xml

3- Retrieve source in Manifest from Org

4- Check Data Under – Force-app\main\default
