As anticipated from the AI driven innovations at Connections 23, Salesforce has announced AI Cloud, a new suite of products built for enterprise CRM, at the recently hosted Salesforce AI Day.  Alongside, Salesforce also introduced a Trusted layer for Einstein GPT to ensure the ethical use and the privacy and security of users’ sensitive data, making the AI Cloud open, extensible, and trusted. With Salesforce’s perpetual aim to cement trust among its customers, both announcements centered on giving users the choice of whether to enable generative AI and how to do so effectively.

Understanding AI Cloud and The Trusted Layer for Einstein GPT

Set to hit the ground this year, the new offering will revolutionize the way businesses interact with their customers by offering hosting and delivery services for various AI models, particularly those focused on generating text. The AI Cloud is built on top of Salesforce’s existing Einstein platform, which already provides businesses with a range of AI-powered tools for sales, marketing, and customer service such as Sales GPT, Marketing GPT, Commerce GPT, and more. However, the new AI Cloud takes things to the next level, by providing businesses with a dedicated platform for building and deploying custom AI models that can be tailored to their specific needs.

Key Features of AI Cloud

Trusted Layer:

One of the critical features of the AI Cloud is its Trusted Layer for EinsteinGPT, which provides businesses with a secure and transparent way to manage their AI models. This layer ensures that all AI models are built on a foundation of ethical and responsible AI practices and that they are transparent and explainable to both customers and regulators. In simple terms, the Trust layer bridges the gaps in hallucinations, toxicity, privacy, bias, and data governance concerns associated with generative AI. The Trusted Layer also provides businesses with a range of tools for monitoring and auditing their AI models, to ensure that they are performing as expected and that they are not introducing any unintended biases or other issues.

The Trusted Layer enables:

  • Hosting LLMs from AWS, Anthropic, Cohere, and others within Salesforce’s infrastructure.
  • Using Salesforce LLMs from Salesforce AI Research to generate code and automate business processes.
  • Connecting models running through Amazon SageMaker or Google’s Vertex AI directly to the AI Cloud via the Einstein GPT Trust Layer.

Integration with Data Sources:

Another critical feature of the AI Cloud is its ability to integrate with a wide range of data sources, including Salesforce’s own CRM data as well as external data sources such as social media, customer feedback, and more. This allows businesses to build AI models that can provide insights and recommendations based on a wide range of data sources, helping them to deliver more personalized and relevant experiences to their customers.
